New painting, lots of wax
Getting back to work after the holidays, taking care of the business end of my art career and a trip to Mexico City has left me working in circles. I did finish a painting today that has so much encaustic wax on it that it is very heavy. Before I start another one, I hope to reconnect with my muse and begin a cohesive series.

Feb. workshops are full
My studio is small, so I can not take more than 5 artists in the workshops at a time. Next class will be March 7 & 8. There are already a few people interested in that class.

the introductory workshop is full
This workshop filled up fast. There is still one space available in the advanced techniques workshop. I am going to Mexico City tomorrow to buy another 10 kilos of beeswax.

Studio Visit
A delightful young couple from California came to my home/studio for a visit yesterday. They got to see a wide range of work, going back 10 years to the new painting I was working on. I did a brief demo so they would understand the encaustic process and was deeply touched by their comments and appreciation of my work. It means so much when viewers are moved by my art. It makes all the years of work, struggle for sincere inspiration, and continued expansion of technique, worthwhile. After they left, I finished the piece I had been working on. Here is it.

O.K. Now I really am finished - I think??
Not knowing when to leave a painting alone, I made some "adjustments" on this one. NO more! I will forget how much work and encaustic went into this in several weeks. Time to go back to abstracts. |
These are just the flesh tone paint. |

I'm back from the States
I arrived home Friday on a red eye. It is good to be back, but I was too tired to go to the opening reception that night at the Pergola Gallery in the Instituto in San Miguel.
Nick Hamblen, the owner and director of Galeria 6 in Pozos took lots of photos of the new show, including a wall of my work. Thank you Nick.
