New painting, Selling Flowers in Bernal
I think I may be finished with this painting. My challenge is to keep the surface flow without getting too precious about the face... I need someone to slap me on the hand to keep me from overworking figures...
A day of art in a "Ghost Town"
I spent all of yesterday in Pozos where they had gallery openings and artists' open studios. It was perfect weather and I saw lots of people I know and met other art lovers who became new friends. I didn't photograph any of the wonderful art, just interesting textures and things that caught my eye while walking from one studio to another.
Pozos was once one of, if not the largest, silver mining town in Mexcio and is less than an hour's drive from San Miguel. It is raising itself from the ashes, actually crumbling adobe, and becoming a special spot for art, beautiful restaurants and hotels.

Contemporary Fine Art International
I have recently been asked to join Contemporary Fine Art International. I am one of the first artists from (living) in Mexico. They did a nice job of adding a slide show of my work and adding 2 more blogs.

I can't think of a title for this painting. Any suggestions?

a new painting
I just finished this large painting - large for encaustic and my small studio. It is 32" x 40" I experimented with plaster, oil and encasutic. I am not sure I will do many more with plaster. It is so absorbent and textured it sucks up the oil and medium.

Advanced workeshop finished for this month
I awoke this morning excited for the second day of the workshop to begin. I learned some new techniques from Judy Wise, an artist, teacher, writer, who checked out my work and participated in this class. Her book, Plaster Studio is available on Amazon. There were hugs all around and an exchange of cards and promises to stay in touch. We all took loads of photos.
After I get the studio cleaned up, I am looking forward to starting some new work with a plaster base.

another reworked painting, small, 6' x6"
I have various ideas for a new series, perhaps more people, or just abstracts, but I have to prepare for next weeks workshops, by making more medium and paint, rearranging my studio so there are 5 complete work stations, and buying boards, butane tanks and lots of paper towel.
I always enjoy sharing what I know about encaustic with others, but I do have to put my own work on hold for a while. Maybe by the end of next week, I'll be headed toward a complete series.
