Advanced workeshop finished for this month

I awoke this morning excited for the second day of the workshop to begin. I learned some new techniques from Judy Wise, an artist, teacher, writer, who checked out my work and participated in this class. Her book, Plaster Studio is available on Amazon. There were hugs all around and an exchange of cards and promises to stay in touch. We all took loads of photos.

After I get the studio cleaned up, I am looking forward to starting some new work with a plaster base.

Most of this year's abstract paintings

Since I am taking a bit of a break from the studio, I spent this morning making another YouTube video; this time it is most of the abstract paintings that I made this year. I didn't include everything because I could not get a good shot of a few of them and forgot to photograph a few others.

Day 2

Encaustic on paper

Although I demonstrate painting encaustic on paper in my advanced technique workshops, until now, I haven't explored it much. It is fun and more spontaneous than my usual way of layering up to 20 layers of encaustic then and scraping and cutting to reveal the underpainting. On paper, the paint must be kept thin. I plan on making some more of these smaller, 8 1/2  x 11" pieces before moving on to larger sizes.
