The Fifty Faces Book is ready

The book is ready. It can be previewed by clicking on the link below. I will have a few copies at the show in June.

I am excited to have a wonderful commission. A darling friend will have a special, large painting of herself to celebrate and remind her of her strength and renewed love of life.

I will also take orders for portrait commissions that are the same size and style of the 50 faces. If you want to buy your portrait, I accept dollars, pesos of PayPal. $425 each + $45 shipping to the States or Canada.

If you will not be in San Miguel de Allende for the show in late June, please make an appointment to see the faces in person.

All the portraits are hung in the gallery. I have help to paint the back of the boards and get the hangers attached. Soon, I will be able to varnish all of them to bring them back to the original fresh colors.

I am delighted that I have a large portrait commission to start soon, It will be fun to work larger with the full figure.

Face #49

Tomorrow I will post the last face in this series. I am glad I cut it down to 50 faces rather than the original 100 I had planned. I haven't become tired of it. It has been an interesting challenge to keep the images fresh and not over worked and still capture a likeness. As always, the eyes are important to me. I like painting them and feel as if I am looking into the personality of my subject.

The end of the Fifty Faces project is in sight and I have started the layout for the small picture book. 45 of the faces have been hung and I am beginning to plan the show.

I've decided to post the process of 2 portraits today.

I've lost count

As of today, I have the last 5 faces started. Now I just check the remaining boards to see the count of the Fifty Faces. I hope to get the gallery set up this week since I am running out of room on the studio shelves.

Yesterday's Face

I have all the photos chosen for the last faces and the thought came to me that after all the weeks of spending almost all day, everyday in the studio, it will be strange to stop, hang the portraits, clean the studio and get back to other work.

The end is in sight. I have almost all the photos chosen for the fifty faces. There are five more portraits started and a couple more finished, which I will post in the next couple of days.
 I could another interesting male face.

A Snafu

For some reason my sale offer on my memoir is not registered on Amazon and I can't change things until next week. It isn't Mercury Retrograde yet, but it seems like it. So it get the book for 99 cents, please wait.

Here is a new face that I enjoyed painting.

Color change

It is difficult, if not impossible to discern eye colors in most of the photos that are sent to me. I should have asked for a clear description of the color of the eyes. Photos flatten the image and sometimes people have adjusted their image, making getting a likeness more difficult.

I made a color correction in the eyes of these two faces.

 I took the day off yesterday and enjoyed Mother's day with one of my daughters and a dear friend.
