Beginnings and endings of some paintings

This bottom painting is very close to being finished. When I photographed it, I could see the changes that have to happen. It is wonderful that when I see the work photographed and posted, the problems practically scream at me. In the meantime I have moved on to the next painting in the series. What do you think?

Figurative paintings in process

I am working on 3 more paintings for my "Into the Silence" series.

encaustic over an oil sketch. It is interesting that after I post a image, I can see the problem areas still to be solved.

I started this painting with broad strokes of encaustic over a scraped board. I still have all the lovely stain from the previous painting. I hope I can continue keeping this loose. That is my goal, but I tend to over work and loose the spontaneity.

More unfinished portraits in encaustic, oil and lots of scraping

I am working on several paintings at once. Hopefully, that will keep from getting picking and overworking. These are all still in progress. It is an interesting journey. These painting will be finished when they are finished. I don't know when.

I find that photographing the progress everyday helps to see what is working and what isn't.

Clear medium with stencil over the face. It will clear some more when it is cool.

Almost ready to get back in the studio

I am catching up with all the work on the computer that I need to do before I get back into the studio. Perhaps, I am avoiding starting a new series, because I know how hard it is to get into the creative zone that will inspire and guide me to make new work.

I updated my website and just finished editing my article for the Encaustic Art Institutes's winter edition of their online magazine. I felt honored to be asked to contribute. When it is published, I will share it with you.

I added 10 images of my work to the article and it was interesting to peruse some older work. Here are some of my favorites.

I am
 packing these paintings today to ship to the Encasutic Art Institute in New Mexico.
When I was in Oregon in June, I showed one of my daughters images of this series and she said that they didn't look as if I did them. I do get into a "zone" when I am working on a series and when it is over, it is over. Now I am working on another figurative piece. It is different from anything I have done before.
