I love living in the country!

We moved to the country June 9th and have fallen in love with the life here. The rains have come and changed the country side from brown to green. The air is sweet, the sunrises and sunsets glorious. The chem trails that I saw daily over my apartment in town are not showing up here.

There is a sense of community and we are meeting fascinating neighbors. It takes a different mind set to leave the center of San Miguel and move here. We really aren't that far; just 15 minute drive to town; although we ( my daughter Cynthia and I) love staying home and are feeling the crush of people, noise and pollution in el centro.

The only problem, and it is a big one, and there are some dogs owned by neighbors, who run in a pack and have tried to kill our dog, Ziggy, 3 times. These men, who are well respected members of the San Miguel community, seem to think that their dogs do not need to be kept on their own property and have the right to run freely in the campo. Hopefully time will change that.

What a great place for a dog to run - if only the neighbors were responsible with their dogs.

Not Encaustic!

I found these images in a box of old photos and remembered what fun it was to make this circus series. This was about 25 years ago, before I discovered encaustic. I am thinking of varying my mediums and go back to working in oils and acrylics. I am not giving up encaustic, but after about 13 years of working mainly in that medium it could be a refreshing change.

Rest and meditation

We are almost settled after the big move and I have been home 6 days. We had our first guests yesterday and it helped to make the house seem like our home.

My retreat was perfect and much needed. Being right on the ocean helped the meditations and relaxation.

The studio is ready, but I am not. I am planning art events, but still working on the details.
