Still reworking

What's my name? 16" x 16"

"Oriental Jewel" 12" x 12"
I am pulling more and more old paintings out of the stacks and working over them. With encaustic, it just seems to make them more interesting and luminous. Here are two I finished today. I have many more unsatisfactory paintings that are waiting to be saved. At this rate, I can keep busy for many weeks.

I can't think of a name for the orange painting. Can anyone suggest a title?

  1. To me, it looks like new growth in a spring garden. So I guess if I were to name it it would be, "New Growth".

It is lovely no matter what you call it.

So, is the original painting done in encaustic or is it another medium with encaustic over it?

  2. Hi Roberta,

Thank you. I also feel as if it is moving upward, like a new growth.

It is an encaustic painting that I worked over in encaustic and some oil glazes.
